Gatedefender Reboot oder keine Webconsole

Zur Zeit berichten vermehrt Kunden, dass sich Gatedefender der Performa sowie Integra Serie unaufgefordert neu starten, sowie vereinzelte nicht Erreichbarkeit der Webconsole.

MailShell has issued a notification acknowledging full responsibility for problems derived from a failure in one of the anti-spam rules.

This is the notification:

“On Tuesday, January 21 at approximately 0400 GMT, an update to the sc15 rule file caused some installations of the Mailshell SDK to crash.  The sc15 file was quickly fixed and a new version was issued.

Update 23.01.2008 / 08:10:

Panda Security hat mittlerweile Hotfixe zur Behebung des Problems bereitgestellt. Ferner wurden “Autohotfixe” veröffentlicht, die von den betroffenen Gatedefendern selbstständig wie ein Signaturupdate heruntergeladen und installiert werden.

Im Falle anhaltender Probleme sollte der Technische Support kontaktiert werden, der dann per SSH die Hotfixe auf den betroffenen Gatedefendern installieren kann.

Das Problem lässt sich durch ein Update auf folgende Versionen beheben:

• Gatedefender Performa
  Full Image Update auf GD 3.00.00.0000

  DVD-ISO für Portwell-Hardware
  CD-ISO für Supermicro-Hardware (CD-Laufwerk in der Front)

  Hotfixe, die anschließend über “Aktualisierung -> Hotfixes installieren” installiert werden können. Da die Hotfix-Packs für die Gatedefender kumulativ sind, sollte die Installation des Hotfix-Pack 300 mit anschließender Installation von Hotfix 302 genügen.

Panda GateDefender Integra version 1.10.00.0000 verfuegbar

Version 1.10.00.0000 of Panda GateDefender Integra incorporates a new anti-spam engine that notably improves performance and spam detection in real time.

The new system uses algorithms that calculate a unique set of identifiers for each message (Advanced Message Fingerprinting) and a global network made up of 180 million users sharing information. The system can process over 3,000 million messages every day in 160 countries and updates its knowledge base every 45 seconds. Also, it uses a local cache that ensures service continuity even if server connection is lost.

How to apply the upgrade

Version 1.10.00.0000 of Panda GateDefender Integra is available in the following formats:

• DVD, available from the Downloads area of the website.
  Check how to download the latest version of Panda GateDefender Integra.
• On-demand upgrade from the GateDefender Integra console.
  From the administration console, select Update, System software upgrade and click the New available version tab.

NOTE: Once Panda GateDefender Integra is upgraded, check the version by clicking the View version details button in the Current versions section.

Additional information

Version 1.10.00.0000 of the Panda GateDefender Integra system software (firmware) also upgrades the rest of the modules to the following versions:

• Anti-spam engine version: Cloudmark 3045.1.0.29

Gatedefender Integra 100/300 Hotfix Pack 300

Fuer den Gatedefender  Integra 100/300 steht das Hotfix Pack 300 zum Download bereit.

Das Hotfixpack beinhaltet folgenden Korrekturen:

• A parameter has been added to configmisc to include subnets in CIDR format.
  
• Memory leaks have been detected in the SMTP parser protocol when consecutive EHLO commands are sent in the same connection. These memory leaks can cause traffic blocking and unexpected computer restarts.
  
• An error has been detected in the anti-spam protection settings. Email addresses containing two dashes with no space in between “—“ cannot be added to the white lists and blacklists. The expression that validates the email addresses in the console has been modified to allow these characters.
  
• Due to an error in Microsoft mail clients, when the message subjects are marked as spam or phishing, accents and characters in the message body are occasionally lost. The mark is introduced in UTF8 Quoted  Printable in accordance with the RFC , however, the mail client applies the first  coding it finds to the whole message. Consequently, if the message is not UTF8, the message is incorrectly viewed.
  
• Under specific circumstances (for example when turning the computer off abruptly) discrepancies occur in the counters.
  
• An error has been detected when restarting the services, due to which the VLANS are unconfigured.
  
• The application of the hotfix includes compatibility with the new higher-detection virus signature file.
